Good question.
You might know me as the guy who writes a couple hundred words for or about Wrestling Observer Live everyday (depending on topic, mood and desire, that is). You might also know me from modding the chat from same or modding the Observer BOARD~! or a number of other things.
I’m sort of on a self imposed hiatus from doing the WOL previews and recaps, so here I am, launching a blog in the year of our lord Two Thousand and Twenty Four at a time where people have shown exactly zero interest in reading.
Timing, as they say, is everything.
So, why now and not several years ago? I’ve been sitting on this domain for awhile. Even prepared a few essays and reviews and other nonsense… but never got around to using it. Why?
I dunno. Laziness, I guess. A dollop of fear. A smidgen of hating WordPress. A rich stew of reasons not to… but in my favor, I’ve had people tell me for years that they wished my stuff wasn’t hidden behind a paywall at the BOARD~! Sounds silly to me, but I have enough easily stroked pride in the fact that people have told me that they like my meandering way of writing, so here’s hoping they meant it.
Also, to be honest, when I have an opinion about something that I think is worth sharing… I wanna share it. Hubris? Ego? A tad, perhaps. I like having a soapbox, even if only a couple of people ever end up seeing it.
Anyway, this is where I’ll write thoughts about… stuff. Nothing too heavy, I promise. Generally conversational, not necessarily positive (in fact, probably the opposite) but always honest and with at least a small amount of thought and heart put into it. Mostly wrestling based, maybe some stuff about comics, toys and whatever. I’ll probably share some drawings here, too. I might rope in the famous Mrs. Convoy (a frustrated writer and artist in her heart, too) to post once in awhile. If I tell her “please write me three hundred words about Go Shiazaki,” I’d probably get back five hundred. Hopefully, I get to vomit my thoughts out into the ether, you like reading them and somehow the world keeps turning.
