I Want To Shoot The Whole Day Down: Holding pattern

AEW Dynasty could have been a great show… It certainly featured a couple of great matches, a couple of surprise returns… some spills and chills. However, it ended with Jon Moxley retaining, and unsurprisingly, people are PISSED. I don’t know if I really have the time today or tomorrow morning to really break the show down in depth… I’d rather get something off of my chest.

I’ve complained about it before but there is a certain type of fan that believes AEW can do no wrong. Mercedes Moné “saved” Julia Hart from a botch early so it was a “great match.” (It wasn’t; the match fell apart in the literal first minute and lost a very hot crowd.) FTR laying out Adam Copeland is “great” because that means Edge and Christian will reunite at All In. (Edge trying to milk the crowd out of their WWE nostalgia on AEW’s biggest domestic show will be a king drag to end all.drags. Imagine 20,000 dorks trying and failing to sing his song.)* Jon Moxley retained because “it takes time to build heat.” (Time, motherfucker? IT’S BEEN SINCE SEPTEMBER AND MOX SUCKS.)

There is such a thing as toxic positivity and these AEW fans who police the feelings and opinions of others are pretty taxing. It’s not enough that THEY like it, YOU have to like it, too. You know who does that on the reg? Who polices each other and treat each other that way? WWE FANS. We have hyperbolic fans saying they won’t watch anymore, and obviously, that’s likely a silly overreaction, but then I see people on Bluesky telling them to go ahead and stop watching. You know who else did that? GOOD OLD TRIPLE PAUL HIMSELF. You wanna do that? You wanna sound like Triple, no, QUADRUPLE H?**

The slow, plodding, throw everything at the kitchen sink Mox main event formula sucks. It’s produced at least three bad pay per view main events (that dirt rotten four way, the thing with Edge and now this. Was there a crappy one with Orange Cassidy as well? I can’t remember anymore). It’s not HELPING, it’s HURTING. There’s heat and there’s GO AWAY HEAT. It feels like we are firmly in the latter stage, not the former.

If you dig this stuff, cool. It’s not my intention to mock you or bring you down. But you HAVE to let people have their opinions. There is a spectrum of thought out there and Tony fucking Khan isn’t gonna pat you on the back for sticking up for his show.

QUIT POLICING THE FEELINGS OF YOUR FELLOW FANS.

*To be fair, while I never want to see Edge again, let alone Edge and Christian team up, the turn WAS pretty good… but I likened it to buying something expensive on your credit card NOW, knowing you’ll have to pay for it in a couple of months

  1. I’ve noticed that fans can’t let you hate what you hate because they LOVE the company for awhile. It’s gotten very tna Fandom like. I had to deal with it at the death of WCW with guys trying to tell me jan to March 00 wasn’t shit or August to October 00 wasn’t shit and that tna wasn’t almost all shit after sting and aj left.

Iike what u like but let me/us dislike what we dislike.

edge is up there with people i never want to see in the ring again. Maybe only Matt hardy and Tommy dreamer have more go away heat with me.

      1. same here. Like why does dreamer still have a job!!!

edge more so than Christian annoys me as edge should be jobbing to young guys you want to make stars. That should be his job and he is getting paid well and should do it. Not a feud with fucking Moxley and now ftr.
